The International Cotton Association (ICA) and Supima have announced a new partnership aimed at enhancing cooperation within the cotton industry. Signed at the American Cotton Shippers Association Convention in Arizona in June 2024, the memorandum of understanding (MoU) outlines initiatives to strengthen contract integrity, promote training programs, share industry insights, and maintain high-quality standards.
Kim Hanna, President of the ICA, expressed hopefulness about the collaboration, emphasising its potential to foster stronger industry ties. Notably, both organisations are actively involved in advancing blockchain technology through TextileGenesis, promoting transparency and sustainability in the cotton supply chain.
This initiative aims to increase transparency and sustainability across the cotton supply chain. Together, Supima and the ICA aspire to establish new standards in ethical trade practices and quality assurance within the global fashion and textile sectors. Their joint efforts are expected to set benchmarks for industry best practices, ensuring a more transparent and sustainable future for cotton production and trade.
