The European Outdoor Group (EOG) and the multi-stakeholder movement Fair Wear have partnered to provide outdoor firms with the knowledge and resources they need to adopt human rights policies that work.
Together, Fair Wear and the European Outdoor Group (EOG) aim to address important challenges in the outdoor clothing sector and promote workers’ rights. Through the strategic alliance, the organisations aim to use their collective power to promote long-term, sustainable improvements for workers across the outdoor apparel supply chain.
While the EOG comprises more than 143 organisations from the European outdoor sector, Fair Wear provides 25 years of expertise in promoting safe and fair employment for garment workers. Over the course of the upcoming year, Fair Wear and EOG will collaborate via both online and in-person events.
In order to address common issues and encourage group efforts to improve working conditions, Fair Wear coordinates cooperative projects among EOG members. This entails creating and presenting webinars that combine brand insights with Fair Wear’s in-depth expertise of specific topics.
The cooperation will also focus on introducing EOG members to Fair Wear’s recently launched online platform, Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD) Academy.
In order to facilitate industry transformation, this project aims to help outdoor brands take concrete actions and provide them with the resources they need to integrate efficient human rights due diligence into their business operations.
The HRDD Academy, which Fair Wear unveiled this week, provides a tailored educational experience with useful materials and professional guidance, empowering companies to make big operational improvements.
Furthermore, it gets brands ready to comply with new laws, including those included in the EU CSDDD (EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive). Companies will be subject to the EU directive regulations as of 26th July 2027.
EOG members will be able to participate in comprehensive modules covering important aspects of human rights due diligence through the HRDD Academy, learn from experts in labour rights and ethical business practices who share their knowledge, and access resources and ongoing education to stay up to date on the most recent changes to labour standards and due diligence laws.
