Around 99 per cent apparel units have paid workers their salaries and Eid bonuses.
Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), the official trade body of Bangladesh RMG industry said that 99.56 per cent, or 2,220 RMG factories, have already paid Eid-ul-Fitr bonuses to workers.
SM Mannan Kochi, President, BGMEA said that the remaining factories will pay within a day. As per him the country now has 2,230 factories, of which 1,906 are in Dhaka and 324 in Chattogram.
He further added that all apparel factories paid their employees in February. In March, 99.25 per cent, or 2,213 factories, paid their workers.
The Industrial Police also said that almost all factories have paid salaries and Eid bonuses to their workers.
