This autumn, the eco-organisation Refashion, which is responsible for managing waste from France’s textile, footwear, and homeware industries, is launching a pop-up campus focused on garment repair and circular fashion. The initiative, called the Refashion Academy, will tour the south of France through an ‘ephemeral campus’ concept.
From 27th September to 28th October 2024, Refashion’s pop-up campus will visit three cities. The tour begins in Montpellier from 27th to 30th September at Place du Nombre d’Or, moves to Nice from 4th to 7th October at Place Masséna, and concludes in Marseille from 25th to 28th October at Place Jean Jaurès.
The pop-up campus aims to educate the public on clothing and textile repair, as well as the principles of circular fashion. This free event, accessible to everyone, will feature practical workshops, insights into textile collection processes, and guidance on sustainable fashion practices, empowering individuals to contribute to environmental protection while also saving money.
Refashion Academy will offer a range of activities, including repair workshops and thematic discussions centered around the ‘5 Rs: Repair, Reuse, Reduce, Recycle, and Restyle.’ Sandra Baldini, Director of Consumer Engagement at Refashion, explained, “Promoting behavioral change through practical examples, creativity, and education on the 5 Rs—using workshops and even TV segments—is our approach to engaging as many people as possible in this movement.
