At Tom Ford, Haider Ackermann assumes creative direction. Tom Ford has revealed that the French designer, who was born in Colombia, will debut his first collection for the American fashion brand during Paris Fashion Week in March. Peter Hawkings, whose resignation from the brand was announced in July, is succeeded by him. With the departure of the company’s founder, Ackermann becomes Tom Ford’s second creative director.
“I’ve been a huge fan of Haider’s work for a long time. I find both his womenswear and his menswear equally compelling,” said Ford.
It wasn’t until mid-May that Ackermann started working at Canada Goose as the newly formed Creative Director. His responsibility at the Canadian outerwear expert was to make sure the brand’s creative look progressed. He will stay with Canada Goose despite his appointment at Tom Ford, a spokesperson has confirmed. Prior to the end of the year, he will release his first seasonal capsule.
“I am extremely proud to be carrying on the legacy of Tom Ford, whom I have long admired and respected,” said Ackermann of his new role. “I am very excited about what lies ahead.”
