Matalan announces its senior leadership with the addition of two experienced professionals.
James Dorling has been appointed as the director of property, tasked with managing Matalan’s portfolio of over 220 UK stores and optimizing its property strategy to align with the company’s transformation plan. Dorling brings a wealth of expertise from previous roles at Gymshark, Wilko, Walgreens, Walmart, and Tesco, where he spent a decade in property management.
Keith Down joins as a non-executive director and chair of the audit committee, succeeding Paul Copley, who steps down after a significant tenure on Matalan’s board. Down offers extensive experience in retail and finance, having held leadership roles at Selfridges Group, Dunelm, Tesco, and Topps Tiles. He will continue serving on the boards of Tortilla and Topps Tiles alongside his role at Matalan.
Executive chair Karl-Heinz Holland commented, “James and Keith, who both contribute invaluable experience to support our strategic objective, are welcomed to the company with great pleasure. Additionally, I want to thank Paul Copley for his important efforts, especially while he was chair.”
These appointments underscore Matalan’s commitment to strengthening its leadership as the company continues to execute its growth and transformation strategies.
