The Lakmé Absolute Grand Finale is always a magnificent affair laced with grandeur as it marks the conclusion of the fashion week- the five days of absolute fashion. For the Winter Festive 2018 edition of the event, Monisha Jaising showcased her collection, ‘Shades of Diva’, inspired by the beauty statement of the season given by Lakmé.
A lot of figure accentuating flowy silhouettes, fabric manipulations and asymmetric patterns lined the collection presented by Monisha Jaising who is known for her signature ‘laidback glamour’ designs. With the powerful punch of bright hues and the sleek edge of metallics, the collection signified intelligent use of colours- right from the muted tones of lilac to bold pops like peacock green and similar palettes.
The value addition of embroidery made use of perfect influence of global art and fashion. Flouncy modifications in the structure of the clothes enveloped in heavy metallics were flaunted by the models and all the garments encompassed combination of multifariousness shoulder modifications to mark the sign of the modern, powerful woman. The designer championed the draped look for most of the collection with the balanced addition of several panels and layers.
The gorgeous diva, Kareena Kapoor Khan, breathed life into the very beauty statement by gracing the stage as the showstopper for the event in Mona Jaisingh’s colour illusion wrap-up gown. Kareena also chose the event to launch her limited edition makeup line she has created in collaboration with Lakmé this season.
The event kept the audience on its toes with the added flare of talent provided by nine artists from Cirque du Soleil. Several dancers, acro-duo, skater-duo, hula-hoop specialist and cube manipulators presented snippets from their upcoming show ‘BAZZAR’, which is premiering in November this year in India.
