Nike is seriously considering selling its surfwear brand Hurley International!
The globally renowned American sportswear manufacturer could be echoing the sentiments of several consumer companies towards surfing sector.
Back in 2002, when Nike had bought Hurley brand from Bob Hurley, the former had planned to venture big into surfing and skating, which was the in-thing those days.
But, the market of surfwear drastically slowed down over the years with the fashion sector shifting more towards retro streetwear and household sportswear. This development has now forced Nike to think on the terms of selling the brand.
And it may happen any day soon! Nike has, however, refused to disclose how much it would earn by selling Hurley.
After setting up the company in 1979, Hurley helped shape surf board for world champion Wayne ‘Rabbit’ Bartholomew.
