While bricks-and-mortar stores have been struggling to survive during lockdown, it’s been a different story for e-commerce.
Asos Marketplace – the fast-growing platform from where shoppers can buy the best of vintage fashion from independent boutiques across the globe – too witnessed strong sales in the months of April and May.
April saw the fashion platform add 80 new independent boutiques during the lockdown period following huge demands for brands who majorly sell through retail or markets to have an online presence.
London’s renowned Truman Markets is one such new addition to Asos Marketplace. There’s been much talk about Truman’s virtual market to encourage fashion traders, which has helped it add over 20 sellers on Asos.
Asos has also said that it has waived monthly rental fee for both new and existing retailers so as to help them trade with ease during the lockdown phase.
The platform generated ‘strong growth’ in Y-o-Y sales as well as customer traffic during the lockdown phase.
Notably, the year-on-sales in April have seen a significant rise of 421 per cent for jumpers, 119 per cent for womenswear hoodies and 166 per cent for sweatshirts.
Since its launch in 2010, it has over 800 brands from across the globe.
