Very recently, Ptex Solutions bagged the much sought after ITC Ltd’s account for Freeborders Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions. ITC Ltd, one of India’s largest conglomerates has selected Freeborders PLM to streamline all apparel product development activities, from concept to delivery. Sharing the news with Team Apparel Online, Prashant Kamdar (MD, Ptex Solutions) felt that having an association with such a prestigious company as ITC Ltd would definitely add impetus to the efforts to promote PLM in the Indian apparel industry.
Web-based PLM delivers brand and product strategies, disciplined product development processes, efficient material development, effectively collaborates with vendors throughout the design and procurement process and develops products that exactly match desired specifications at an accelerated pace. Ptex solutions is the exclusive agent of Freeborders in India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Mauritius. Prasham says, “ITC is the first Indian apparel company to adopt an enterprise PLM solution. Freeborders PLM solution will be used for collaborative product development by designers, merchandisers, garment engineers and selected vendors of ITC’s LRBD (Lifestyle Retail Business Division). Says Prabir Sengupta, Vice President- Finance and Information Technology, ITC, “ In addition to our ERP, it was clear that we required a solution that would support our design-prototying process to optimise/reduce product development lead-times.”
