
HP Inc. (HPQ) unveils its plan to invest US $ 200 million for the development of next generation of water-based ink solution for digital printing on corrugated packaging and textiles.
This initiative is a part of HP’s ongoing investments in printing technologies and market that is aligned with its commitment to developing sustainable printing solutions.
The traditional textile colouration has harmful effects from water emission perspective.
Speaking about investment, Santi Morera, General Manager and Global Head of Graphics Solutions, HP Inc. said “Investing in water-based solutions that meet market needs and the increasing sustainability requirements of graphics customers is expected to propel business growth for HP.”
Santi further said “We will be dedicating resources towards continued innovation and industry disruption to accelerate safer, simpler and more sustainable water-based printing technologies that meet the quality, performance and economics needed by these markets.”
HP’s water-based inks for corrugated packaging have already been successfully used in the application of sensitive product packaging like food. This initiative marks their step for the next major development of ink printhead and press technology, which delivers enhanced quality, performance and sustainability.
For the successful execution of the idea, HP is well equipped with vast knowledge of technology options from both the traditional analog and digital perspectives.
Moreover, the company is partnering with the textile industry to strengthen its choice for water-based digital platforms.
