Garment industry is mainly driven by the sewing technology, and there are many companies providing innovative solutions for the same. However, in order to prove the worth and give the best technology to the manufacturers, companies need to constantly update their product portfolios to stay in the business. Staying ahead of the curve, Brother, a Japanese sewing technology provider, participated in the Garmentech ’19, Dhaka where it displayed its innovations and garnered a huge response from the visitors.
Brother’s booth at the event was quite occupied by the visitors and company has been able to do a good business through it. The main highlight was the launch of its Industrial Sewing Machine Network System, the IoT solution.
Brother IoT enables low cost operation with flexible system where the real-time production can be controlled from anywhere. The production data can be visualized in the form of a bar chart that enable to keep the track of production status. These graphical displays also enables a comparison of the output from multiple sewing machine leading to better line balancing and helps to find a bottleneck. Also, it further enables to observe the working ration of each sewing machine that helps find the low working efficiency point.
Another attractive technology on display was S-7250A, Single Needle Direct Drive Lockstitch machine with Electronic Feeding system and Thread Trimmer. The machine features a DigiFlex Feed (DFF) system that can resolve various sewing troubles without adjustment work. The technology improves the reduction of needle breakage and productivity, reduced material slippage, reduced puckering and improved thread tightening. It also eliminates the issue of oil stains in the garment due to the adoption of the sealed oil pan and also the minimum lubrication system prevents problem such as oil leakage and oil scattering drastically.
“The introduction of DFF technology has reduced the needle breakage reducing the rejection rate to 40 to 50 per cent” said H N Ashiqur Rahman, General Manager, Brother Bangladesh Liaison Office.

Moreover, the machine can be easily operated with a simple panel, the stitch length and the sewing speed can be easily controlled. They also lead to productivity improvement by improving production Management with IoT. As this series of machine is IoT applicable, they let the supervisor to analyze, manage process and speed up productivity improvement and maintenance work. They also enable easy data transfer to other sewing machine and software upgradation which can be done by USB memory easily.
“S-7250A is one of the updated versions of single needle machine which is equipped with DFF (DigiFlex) system. This model is studded with electronic digital feeding system, means the feeding will be more accurate and easier to control. Multiple feed principles are possible in this machine, which is a very new concept. Besides this, the thread left-over is also reduced to 3 mm from 5 to 6 mm, which is offered by other machines. There is an LCD colour panel within the machine, which is completely programmable like any smart phone,” explained Ashiqur Rahman.
The success of Brother can be attributed with the fact that it has a strong R&D Team which continuously puts in enormous efforts to make the future technology better than what it is now. “The IoT system displayed in the fair are customized product based on Asian market before making the product we did almost 2 years R&D based on our requirement in the last 6 months we made trail demo in some factory then we got the feedback and based on that we changed it. Already some leading garments factory of Bangladesh started using our IoT system,” said Ashiqur Rahman.
