Pastels, typically associated with Spring/Summer, unexpectedly took centre stage on the recently concluded Fall/Winter 2024 runways, showcasing a diverse array of hues. From turquoise to lavender to sky blue to sorbet green and pinks, pastel tones infused winter collections with a refreshing twist.
Not limited only to the womenswear market, the trend has equally inspired menswear collections. The evolving landscape of menswear, characterised by increasingly blurred gender boundaries, has led to the expansion of pastel colour palettes, appealing to a broader market. This trend is poised for continued growth in the foreseeable future.
On the runway, designers and brands showcased unique interpretations of pastel colours highlighted with texture, defining contemporary elegance on the runway.
Carven’s Louise Trotter unveiled a sophisticated mossy green midi-length skirt featuring a shaggy texture, elegantly paired with a pastel green top. Meanwhile, Zomer showcased a striking ensemble consisting of a mint green knit turtleneck that was adorned with silver fringed epaulets, further complemented by a vibrant hot pink draped skirt and shawl.
Philosophy by Lorenzo Serafini presented a pale pink chiffon blouse layered over a green satin wrap-front mini skirt, complemented by a purple satin clutch, whilst Nicky Zimmermann revealed an ensemble featuring a light pink tweed oversized smock top with a large bow at the neck, paired with matching flared pants. Stella McCartney debuted a pale pink faux fur floor-length coat that was layered over a two-piece gabardine suit in a coordinated hue.
