As the apparel industry reaches global heights with quality, the basic requirement from where other concepts like fast fashion and quick response take off, every product/ raw material has improved its range and quality to add value to the end product in an effort to match benchmarks in international standards. Once considered as the least important in the production equation, sewing and embroidery threads are today an invaluable integral element in the final product to provide both durability and value. While many international companies have made a foray into the Indian garment industry to provide the global edge in manufacturing, some Indian companies have accepted the challenge to provide world-class thread indigenously. Viscot industries, a part of the SM Filaments group of companies, has the distinction of being the first Indian unit to start package dyeing technology on viscose thread.
The company recently launched the new collection available in 400 ready shades. “Viscot embroidery threads are manufactured using Swiss technology to provide the best for high speed embroidery applications. The product has also been certified for Oeko-tex standard 100 making it suitable for products being shipped to the EU,” said Sumeer Tandon, MD Viscot industries. Since the technology has been adopted in India for the first time for viscose, it provides the company with the competitive edge both in price and capacity. While ready stocks are available for colours present in the shade card of the company, three days is the lead-time for development of specialised colours on specific minimum quantities.
One of the major advantages of Viscot embroidery threads is its colour fastness, made possible due to the high temperature- high pressure, package dyeing process; this is particularly an advantage over threads coloured by the traditional hanks dyeing technique. Since the whole process is computerised the lots are also bigger- up to 1,500 boxes per batch, which is another advantage for huge capacity production requiring the same colour thread in large quantities. “At every stage of manufacturing the viscose embroidery threads, special care is taken to ensure distinct improvement over quality of dyed yarn with use of in-house laboratory facilities, which is still lacking with many indigenous manufacturers,” said Sumeer.
With positive response at the launch Sumeer is confident that Viscot brand will soon become synonymous with quality viscose embroidery threads. “Many buying offices have shown interest as our threads meet and in many cases exceed buyer standards,” concluded Sumeer.
